Studio Levien was established in 1999 and is a partnership between Robin Levien and Patricia Stainton. The ambition of the studio is to design, functional, affordable and beautiful products that are successful in the market place and a joy to live with.
Robin Levien is one of the most consistently successful designers working in Europe today. In recognition of his sustained excellence as a designer he was made a Royal Designer by the Royal Society of Arts in 1995.
Patricia Stainton has extended the practice into Garden Design with acclaimed designs at Westonbirt Garden Festival and Field House near Exeter.
Studio Levien employs four highly talented designers who help to create best selling products for clients in countries all over the world including America, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Denmark and Portugal.

Modesty man: an intimate portrait by the doyen of home journalism, Barbara Chandler.
Journalist Barbara Chandler is design writer for Homes & Property at the London Evening Standard and contributes to many other publications, including IDFX and The Designer magazine. Indeed, she has been writing about home design for over 35 years - "we didn't even call it design then, let alone interiors or lifestyle. We called it furnishing and decoration". Accordingly, Barbara has been acquainted with Robin Levien from the beginning of his working life, and below, sketches a background to his career to date.
Robin Levien, RDI is the largely unsung hero of bathroom design, unusually modest and unassuming, he has co-designed an estimated 15 per cent of all ceramic bathroom ranges on the market in the UK today. He invented such blessed space-savers as the corner cistern and the shower-bath... Although Levien determinedly avoids celebrity, his achievements over 30 years in design are definitely of star status. He has been a Royal Designer for Industry since 1995 - and there can be only 200 of these at any one time, elected by their peers.
With his colleague Dave Tilbury, Levien is also the designer of the acclaimed Concept bathroom collection, launched by Ideal Standard at 100% Design in 2008. With an impressive 100 items it's the largest range its makers have ever produced. Levien's Studio range for Ideal Standard, with its quintessentially simple shapes, has stayed in continuous production for over 20 years, winning numerous awards and with sales exceeding 10 million pieces.
